Jun 9 - Senate to Weigh in on Bag Ban Bill

The California State Senate will next weigh in on the Plastic Bag Ban Bill, AB 1998. AB 1998 would eliminate the 19 billion plastic bags unecessarily distributed every year in California and greatly reduce plastic litter pollution. Many hurdles still remain for the bill. These include:

  • Senate environmental committee vote by July 2
  • Senate fiscal committee vote by August 13
  • Senate floor and Assembly floor concurrence vote by Aug 31
  • Governor's signature by September 30.
