Aug 23 - Plastic Bag Ban Bill to Move this Week

The plastic bag ban bill, AB 1998, is expected to move out of Senate Rules Committee soon and on the Senate Floor. AB 1998 would eliminate 19 billion plastic bags by prohibiting retailers from distributing them. The plastics industry has recently funded a media blitz against the bill and are afraid a bag ban law in California would set off a national movement to ban plastic bags.
