Feb 28 - New Recycling Incentives Coming to Sacramento Area
For residents in the City of Placerville, Cameron Park, and El Dorado Hills, recycling is soon going to be more rewarding than before.
That's because El Dorado Disposal is rolling out a new rewards program this September, giving curbside recycling points to participating residents which can then be redeemed for valuable gift cards and coupons at over 1,500 stores and restaurants. Participants can help themselves to these benefits while helping the environment at the same time by reducing resources needed for virgin material products and diverting materials from ending up in landfills. Visit the CAW website for more on how recycling helps fight climate change.
Residents would continue single stream recycling with their current recycling carts while haulers identify participating carts to reward points based on weight.
Residents can enroll online or by phone and pay a small monthly fee ($2-$3.49 a month) to join. This program, which is expected to save participants $200 or more in rewards each year, will incentivize recycling and help change behavior to increase diversion rates. Some electronic waste is also accepted for reward points.
