Jul 5 - Carmel Adopts Bag Ban, 50 Cities and Counties Covered Under Bans by 2013

On July 3rd (which was coincidentally the 3rd International Plastic Bag-Free Day), the Carmel City Council took the final steps in adopting a plastic bag ban.

The Carmel plastic bag ban becomes operative next February in all retail stores. Restaurants and non-profit stores are exempted.

Fifty cities and counties in our state will have enacted plastic bag bans by April 2013.

A statewide solution would reduce greater amounts of plastic bag pollution while at the same time providing a uniform policy--

Take action and support AB 298 (Brownley), the bill to ban single-use plastic bags in grocery and convenience stores.
