Apr 3 - Leno Bills Propose Coastal Protections, Reduction in Fast Food Waste (Press Release)

SB 529 (Leno) would require fast food chains to use food packaging that can be locally recycled or composted by July 1, 2014. In addition, and consistent with CA law, the bill mandates that the packaging meet specific diversion goals in subsequent years, starting with a 25% goal by 2016 and ending with a 75% recycling or composting rate by 2020.
