Sept 10 - Davis City Council to Discuss Bag Ordinance

The City of Davis would be the first city in the Central Valley to pass a local ordinance banning single-use plastic bags if the measure up for discussion tonight is eventually adopted.

The local ordinance, which would cover more retail establishments than other ordinances in the state, won’t be acted upon until later in the year or early 2014.

CAW Executive Director Mark Murray discussed the proposal on Capitol Public Radio today.

"A lot of the ordinances adopted so far have exempted the small stores and restaurants and Davis is actually looking at including fast food establishments and convenience stores in their policy."
