Apr 17 – Local Events on Waste

Various organizations are hosting events in the coming week on waste issues.  If you are in the area you may want to check them out!

If you live in Marin County, and want to understand issues relating to plastic waste, you might attend the Hidden Costs of Plastics presentation hosted by Green Sangha on Thursday, April 27th, 7:00-8:30 pm at the Fairfax Public Library (2097 Sir Francis Drake Blvd).  The organization has been working on Zero Waste issues within the county, and if you are interested in these efforts, this would be a great place to make contacts.

If you are in Costa Mesa this Tuesday, you might look at the Open House event put on by the Earth Resource Foundation (ERF).  The public is encouraged to attend (please RSVP), and enjoy the live musical entertainment with some food and wine, while learning of the achievements of the organization in a convivial atmosphere.  ERF supports notable campaigns on plastic bags, general plastics, cigarette butts, youth programs, and environmental education.

The Northern California Recycling Organization is hosting two "Introduction to Recycling" courses.  Each event extends over a three-day period and are designed for newcomers to the recycling field such as entry-level positions and interns.  The first program is in San Francisco from April 24-26, but if you miss that one, don’t despair – there will be another course from May 15-17 in Los Angeles.

Don't forget that Earth Day is this upcoming Saturday.  Continue to stay updated with CAW on what is going on in the world of waste, and how it affects our planet as a whole
