Jun 12 â€" Marine Debris Bill and Plastic Bag Recycling Bill Get Committee Assignments

The CAW-sponsored bill, AB 1940 has been assigned to its first Senate Hearing on June 20th in the Committee on Natural Resources and Water.  The bill would create a taskforce of members from multiple State Agencies to brainstorm, develop, and then implement a state plan addressing the problem of marine debris.

AB 2449, another CAW-sponsored bill, was recently assigned to its first Senate committee as well.  The bill requires all grocery stores to take back plastic bags for recycling, in addition to selling reusable bags.  It will be heard in the Senate Committee on Environmental Quality on June 19th.
