Mar 19 - UC Davis to Clean Up Marine Debris

UC Davis will begin its California Lost Fishing Gear Recovery Project next week that aims to remove dangerous fishing line and gear from 16 popular California piers. Though it makes up a small percentage of marine debris as a wholeâ€"the majority of marine debris is land-based plasticâ€"fishing gear debris nonetheless presents a danger to wildlife and is a priority of the Ocean Protection Council. As part of the program, divers will remove lines from piers as well as provide receptacles for fishing gear waste.
