May 8 - US Senate Bill Would Require Cigarettes to Carry Anti-Littering Message

US Senator Joe Lieberman has introduced legislation in Washington that would require cigarettes to advertise the dangers of littering. Senate Bill 1162 would require that every pack of cigarettes sold in the country be accompanied with the message: "Please dispose of all cigarette waste properly. Do not litter." Cigarettes are littered on average 142 times per second, which means that nearly 100,000 tons of these smoldering toxic butts are dumped into our environment annually.
