Jul 6 - Oakland Joins SF, Bans Plastic Bags

The Oakland City Council voted to ban plastic bags from stores with large annual sales earlier this week, mirroring a similar ordinance that passed in San Francisco in March. Stores will have six months to comply with the measure, which will require the use only of reusable bags, compostable plastics or recyclable paper made with a minimum 40% recycled content.
