Aug 8 - ARB Releases New Draft of GHG Inventory
The ARB released a draft version of its updated greenhouse gas inventory. The following waste-related changes have been made in the new inventory:
- Based on the assumption of a 75% landfill gas capture efficiency and an "improved application" of the First Order Decay model, the ARB has reduced its estimate of emissions for landfills from 8.4 MMTCO2E to 5.8 MMTCO2E.
- There no longer appears to be any sink or sequestration associated with lumber or other organic materials that are in landfills. The only negative numbers in the inventory are associated with true sequestration in plant growth.
- Read the draft documents on CAW's document page.
- Read CAW's position on these issues.
- The ARB will be holding a public workshop on the GHG inventory next Monday (August 13).
