Oct 8 - PG&E Observes National Energy Awareness Month, Gives Away CFLs

Pacific Gas & Electric is giving out free compact fluorescent light bulbs at over 300 state-wide events this month in order to raise awareness of energy efficiency and the role energy usage for lighting plays in the production of Green House Gases and global climate change. PG&Eâ€"which says it has distributed over 30 million CFLs since 2000â€"says that for every 1 incandescents changed to CFLs, California can prevent the emission of over 200,000 tons of GHG.

CAW and Lighting Efficiency:

  • Support AB 1109, the CAW-sponsored bill awaiting Governor Schwarzenegger's signature or veto, which would phase out the use of incandescent bulbs in California by requiring reductions in energy usage for lighting, along with other environmental provisions.
