Oct 15 - Los Angeles Takes First Step to Ban Polystyrene

The Los Angeles City Council LA River Ad Hoc Committee today directed the City's Bureau of Sanitation and Environmental Services Department to study phasing out the use of foamed polystyrene takeout food packaging in Los Angeles restaurants and businesses by 2013. In attendance at the meeting were representatives from CAW and partner organizations Heal the Bay and the California Coastal Coalition. The American Chemistry Council, who has fought CAW-sponsored AB 904, was in opposition.
