Jan 9 - China Bans Bags

The issue of plastic bags received renewed international attention as China announced a plan to ban very thin plastic bags, and end the free distribution of other plastic bags, by summer. In related news, the New York City Council adopted an ordinance that mimicked California's Plastic Bag Recycling and Reuse Law (2006 AB 2449), which requires retailers to recycle plastic bags, as well as offer reusable bags.
