Apr 14 - CAW Bills Pass out of Committees

CAW sponsored legislation that aims to update the state's Bottle and Can Recycling Law that will, among other measures, expand the program to include all plastic bottles, passed out of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee 5-2. SB 1625 (Corbett) now heads to the Appropriations Committee.

CAW sponsored AB 2058 (Levine), requiring retailers to meet specified plastic bag diversion requirements or be required to charge a 15 cent per bag fee, passed out of the Assembly Natural Resources Committee late Monday and now heads to the Appropriations Committee. Read more about the passage.

AB 2640 (Huffman) also passed out of the Natural Resources Committee and also will next be heard in the Appropriations committee.
