Many state legislatures are actively considering plastic bag bans or fees.
- In Colorado, a bill that would ban plastic bags by 2012 passed its first committee hearing this week.
- In Hawaii, three bills targeting plastic bag litter are making their way though the Hawaii Legislature.
- In California, two bills that would put a fee on carryout bags (AB 68 and AB 87) will come up for their first committee hearings soon.
