Nov 24 - Conservation Corps Call for Restoration of Bottle Bill "Loans"
The Orange County local Conservation Corps has called for the restoration of funds "borrowed" from the Beverage Container Recycling Fund to the state's General Fund. Nearly $500 million in loans have been made from the BCRF, and the Department of Conservation recently stopped all ancillary funding of recycling, including grants to local conservation corps.
Local conservation corps employ thousands of at-risk California youth for recycling and other activities.
