Apr 13 - Litter Reduction Bills Passed Environmental Committee

Food packaging bill, AB 2138 by Assemblymember Chesbro, and the Brownley single-use bag ban bill, AB 1998, both passed Assembly Natural Resources committee yesterday.

AB 2138 requires food providers to use only recyclable or compostable takeoutfood packaging.

AB 1998 will reduce dangerous plastic bag litter pollution by banning single-use carryout bags at large retail outlets and promote reusable bag use.
