Jun 4 - Cities and Counties Still Moving Ahead with Plastic Bag Bans

Despite progress moving a statewide plastic bag ban bill (AB 1998 Brownley), California cities and counties are not pausing in their efforts to ban plastic bags locally.

Los Angeles County recently announced it is accepting comments on its draft EIR for a potential plastic bag ban ordinance. Ban processes are still underway in San Jose, Santa Clara County, Santa Monica and in other municipalities. And CAW is supporting Manhattan Beach's appeal of a plastic industry-funded harrasment suit against their ban. The California Supreme Court has agreed to hear their case.
