Jul 12 - Local Governments Moving Forward with Plastic Bag Bans
California cities and counties continue to move ahead with plastic bag ban ordinances. San Jose's draft Environmental Impact Report for its proposed plastic bag ban ordinance has been published and is open for public comment through August 26. The comment period for LA County's draft EIR for its proposed plastic bag ban ends July 16.
Plastic bags are a primary source of oceanic plastic litter pollution. CAW-supported AB 1998 proposes to ban plastic bags statewide.
CAW is supportive of Manhattan Beach's and other cities' efforts to ban plastic bags without conducting an EIR.
