Aug 11 - Plastic Bag Ban Bill to be Heard in Committee Tomorrow
The Plastic Bag Ban Bill, AB 1998, will be heard tomorrow in Senate Appropriations. If the bill passes out of the committee it will have until the end of the month to pass the Senate and Assembly.
AB 1998 would eliminate 19 billion plastic bags annually by banning plastic bags from grocery stores, pharmacies, convenience stores and similar stores. Current languages sets a five cent minimum sales price for 40% postconsumer paper bags.
