Oct 26 - Plastic Bag Ban Proposed in New Jersey

Jersey City, NJ is hoping to soon pass an ordinance banning plastic bags. If successful, it would be the state's first plastic bag ban.

Backed by City Councilman Steve Fulop and Mayor Jerramiah Healy, the ordinance would require chain supermarkets to switch to paper or biodegradable plastic bags within six months. Drug stores with 5 or more outlets in the city would have one year to do the same.
