Mar 9 - Plastic Bag Ban Advances in Oahu

Oahu, the last of the four largest Hawaiian islands without a plastic bag ban, continues to move forward with Bill 10, a ban on non-compostable plastic bags.

Last month the Honolulu City Council approved the first of three readings required before the ban is adopted.

Between readings, the ordinance must go back to a Public Works and Sustainability Committee for approval. Last week the committee advanced the ordinance back to city council for its second reading.
