Share

On Wednesday, April 11, the Bainbridge Island City Council adopted a plastic bag ban.

It is the fifth Washington community with a bag ordinance. See the full list of local bag bans in Washington and the rest of the country.

Bainbridge Island is located just west of Seattle and accessible via ferry.

The ordinance goes into effect this November in all retail stores. Recyclable paper bags made with 40% post consumer content can be sold for five cents each to shoppers.

Congrats to Bainbridge Island for taking a stand and recognizing the negative impacts of plastic bags. Read more in the Seattle Times and other articles.
