May 30 - Issaquah, WA Could be Next to Ban Plastic Bags

Share

The City of Issaquah, WA, with a population of over 30,000 and just east of Seattle, may be the next Washington city to ban plastic bags. Council is expected to consider the issue on June 4 after a month-long process to obtain public input.

The ordinance is similar to those recently passed elsewhere in the state, in Seattle, Bellingham, and Bainbridge Island. It would ban plastic bags and place a 5 cent charge per paper bag. See the full list of local bag bans here.

If you live in Washington, take a minute or two to write to the Mayor and City Council in support of this ordinance. Learn more about the meeting and take action here.
