Jul 17 - Governor Appoints Jose Ortiz Assistant Director of the Division of Recycling
Governor Brown has officially appointed Jose Ortiz, as assistant director of the division of recycling at CalRecycle. In this capacity Ortiz will assist Director Caroll Mortensen in overseeing the Beverage Container Recycling Program.
"I think stakeholders and policy makers are going to be very impressed with Jose," said CAW Executive Director Mark Murray. "Jose will bring a much needed track record of program and fiscal management to the Beverage Container Recycling Program. His skills and experience in fiscal management of state programs will ideally complement Caroll’s policy and program experience. This will be a great team as we look to modernize this successful recycling incentive program."
Most recently, Jose served as special assistant to the chief deputy director at the California Department of Health Care Services since 2011. Jose has a successful track record of planning, organizing, monitoring, controlling and managing Department of Public Health’s budget and accounting of its resources. He served as chief deputy director of operations at the California Department of Public Health from 2010 to 2011 and deputy director of administration from 2008 to 2010.
