Aug 31 - Fight Against Foam Moves to Locals After State Bill Dies
More than sixty local governments in California have taken action and banned foam polystyrene containers.
SB 568 would have created a uniform statewide policy to address the issue of polystyrene takeout container pollution. Unfortunately, the bill died on the Assembly floor earlier this evening.
Expanded polystyrene foam or eps is an easily avoidable source of pollution, with readily available and more sustainable food container alternatives that can be composted or recycled.
Thanks to all who took action and supported SB 568. In the absence of a statewide solution, it is now up to local governments to continue the fight against eps pollution.
