Sept 19 - San Rafael Approves Polystyrene Ordinance
One more local government has taken definitive action against plastic food packaging pollution.
The San Rafael City Council unanimously approved an ordinance to phase out polystyrene food containers in city restaurants on Monday evening.
The ordinance goes into effect one year after adoption. City Council is scheduled to hold the final reading and adoption on October 1.
More than sixty cities or counties in the state have adopted ordinances on polystyrene packaging.
