Jan 9 - Three More Cities Approve Reusable Bag Ordinance

Yesterday evening, three more cities in San Mateo County, located just south of San Francisco, CA, moved ahead with their Reusable Bag Ordinances.

Starting Earth Day 2013, all retail stores would be plastic-bag free within city limits. Reusable and recycled content paper bags would still be available for purchase.

Many quick shopping trips may not even need a bag...customers can simply carry out their small items in their hands, purse, or backpack.

Belmont

The City of Belmont, which introduced and approved the ordinance last November, adopted the reusable bag ordinance yesterday. This brings the total of cities and counties with an adopted ordinance up to 58.

Menlo Park

Menlo Park's city council gave unanimous approval during an introduction of its reusable bag ordinance. A scheduled final reading and adoption will follow shortly.

San Bruno

The San Bruno City Council also unanimously approved the first reading of a bag ordinance yesterday evening. The council may adopt the ordinance at the next meeting.
