Nov 20 - Help Reduce Food Waste This Holiday Season
In the coming weeks, families will sit down to tables laden with food. As we celebrate the holidays, let’s keep in mind the need to reduce the amount of food that gets wasted and ensure that those in need are being fed.
Reducing food waste can take many forms:
- Buying only what you need
- Reusing leftovers
- Donating food to food banks
- Composting food scraps
Just a little extra planning and time can help get food to the estimated 870 million people who go hungry every day. Composting instead of throwing away food scraps will help reduce the amount of methane entering the atmosphere. And buying only what you need will help you save money.
