Mar 4 - San Rafael Becomes 100th City With Plastic Bag Ban
California has reached a new milestone for local bag bans.
Yesterday evening, the City of San Rafael adopted an ordinance banning single-use plastic bags in grocery, convenience, and drug stores. If customers forget to bring in their own bags, they can choose to purchase paper or reusable bags for a minimum of ten cents each. The ordinance goes into effect this September.
This makes San Rafael the 100th city or county in the state to be covered by a plastic bag ban. Way to go, San Rafael! See the full list.
