July 2 - Monrovia Adopts Bag Ban, Local Ban Count Climbs to 112
The City of Monrovia joined the 111 other local governments in California with a plastic bag ordinance when it adopted a bag ban yesterday.
The ordinance applies to grocery, drug, and convenience stores and will be enforced starting next year. Single-use plastic bags, which can negatively impact our environment and our economy, are no longer allowed. Shoppers who forget to bring their own bags and decide to get one from the store will pay a minimum ten cents per paper bag.
The City previously approved the introduction of the ordinance back in June.
Congrats to Monrovia!
