Aug 29 - CA Bag Bill Clears Senate Floor, Heads to Governor for Signature
California may be plastic bag free in all grocery stores statewide by July of 2015.
The California State Senate passed SB 270 by Senators Padilla, de Leon, and Lara, on a concurrence vote late Friday (22-15), after the bill passed off the Assembly Floor the day before. It is the first state in the nation to accomplish this.
The bill now heads to Governor Brown's desk for a signature, with a deadline of midnight on September 30.
Please write to the Governor and urge him to sign the bill into law! TAKE ACTION NOW.
Plastic grocery bag pollution costs millions in litter management on our streets, our waterways, and even our recycling facilities and landfills. It is also a visual blight on our environment and a hazard to our wildlife. It's time to ban the single-use plastic bag.
