AB 1347 (Ting)

OVERVIEW:

AB 1347 requires businesses with an annual gross income over $25,000,000, subject to the Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, to provide customers the choice between receipt or no receipt by 2026, prohibits the use of bisphenol A in receipts by 2024, and prohibits the use of all bisphenols by 2025.

THE ISSUE:

With the increasing adoption of e-receipts, paper receipts are not only unnecessary, antiquated waste of paper, but many of them also expose consumers to toxic endocrine disruptors, like BPA.
