Summary.
Bans the use of expanded polystyrene food packaging.

Position and Status
CAW Supports. This bill died with the close of the legislative session. Previously, the bill passed out of Asm APPR May 28 with a 9-5 vote and out of Asm NR April 27 with a 6-3 vote.

Description.
AB 1358 prohibits food vendors from distributing expanded polystyrene food packaging.  Polystyrene is one of the largest component of marine debris pollution because it is easily transported by wind and rain into the marine environment. Once in the environment, it kills marine wildlife, including sea birds and turtles, which mistake it for food.
